About Us
Started with one rented truck and a promise to keep every job in-house.
Get my written quoteDanny Kessler grew up in Van Nuys, the kind of Valley kid who spent summers riding along on his uncle’s furniture-delivery route before he was old enough to drive the truck himself. He spent his twenties running crews for a regional van line based out in the Inland Empire, learning the trade from the back of someone else’s trucks, before he came home to the Valley in 2013 and opened Horizon Van Lines with a single rented truck. The idea was simple: the crew that quotes your job should be the same crew that shows up on move day, not a name on a call-center screen who hands you off to whoever’s available.
Over a Decade of Valley Moves
Since 2013, Horizon Van Lines has completed more than 2,900 moves and logged over 410,000 miles between Northridge and the rest of the region. Every one of those jobs was handled by our own crew and our own trucks — we’ve never subcontracted a move out to another company.
The Team
Arjun Nair has handled move coordination and estimates since 2018. He walks every household through a phone or video estimate personally and has a written flat rate back the same day, CSUN semester-turn weekends included.
Marcus Ondo has run dispatch starting in 2019. He builds the daily truck board around 405 and 101 interchange timing, dorm loading-zone windows near CSUN, and the gate codes for Porter Ranch’s HOA communities, so a crew rarely shows up guessing.
Julian Reyes has led the same crew for a decade, going back to 2016. He signs off personally on every piano and gun-safe job before the straps come off, and it’s rare that a stairwell turn surprises him at this point.
Dana Whitfield has run packing and inventory since 2020. He built the room-by-room packing checklist our crew still uses today and trains every new hire on how a kitchen actually survives a drive up the 405.
Trevor Sok has driven our long-distance runs starting in 2021. He handles the Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Sacramento trips himself and stays with the load from the Northridge driveway to wherever it’s headed.
Licensed and Insured
Horizon Van Lines is a fully licensed and insured Northridge household-goods mover, registered for household-goods work across the San Fernando Valley with a California PUC household-goods carrier permit (Cal-T) and interstate US DOT and MC authority on file, available to any customer who asks. We’re based on Reseda Blvd in Northridge, and we’ve run the company the way Danny always wanted: one crew, one truck fleet, one flat rate, nothing farmed out.
What makes Horizon Van Lines different
One written flat rate before move day, and the same local crew from pickup to your new front door. That’s been true since 2013.
Crews Who Already Know The Valley
Every mover on our trucks has worked a CSUN move-in weekend or a Valley apartment turn before. Your crew already knows the gate codes up in Porter Ranch and which Reseda Blvd loading zones fill up first, before you finish giving the address.
Same-Week Slots For CSUN Move Weekend
Semester turnover doesn’t wait six weeks for a truck, so neither do we. Same-week slots stay open for CSUN move-in and move-out weekends at no rush premium, and Danny still takes those calls himself.
Licensed With The California PUC
We hold a California PUC household-goods carrier permit plus interstate US DOT and MC authority on file, with up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage per shipment. A property manager or an HOA board asking for proof gets a certificate the same day.
Marcus Plans Around The 405 Before You See A Truck
405/101 interchange backups, dorm-zone loading windows, gate codes for the gated communities up in Porter Ranch — Marcus builds the day’s truck board around all of it before a crew ever leaves the yard, so your window holds.
You Get Arjun, Not A Script
Call the office and Arjun, or someone off the crew, picks up — not a call center reading from a screen three states away. Whoever answers can already see your date and your crew on the board.

A studio, a dorm room near CSUN, or one appliance across town: small jobs get a real crew and a real quote, not a brush-off for coming in under some minimum.
See detailsWhat we do to your things before the truck even moves
Every Piece Gets A Once-Over First
Julian’s crew walks each room with you before a single blanket goes on, noting any scratch or dent a dresser already had. That way nobody’s arguing later about what the truck actually showed up to find.
Both Doorways Get Protected First
Floor runners and corner guards go down at pickup and again at delivery before anything gets lifted, so neither your old hallway nor the new one ends up with a scuffed wall or a dinged door frame.
Disassembled, Bagged, And Tracked
Bed frames, dining tables, cribs — anything that needs to come apart for the ride gets taken down, and Dana’s crew bags the hardware and tapes it straight to the piece so nothing goes missing between doors.
Fragile Items Get Their Own Carton, Not A Gap To Wedge Into
TVs, mirrors, and artwork travel in a dedicated carton with real corner padding, packed by the same mover who carried it out of the room in the first place.
Heavy Pieces Ride A Dolly, Never Get Wrestled
Anything heavy goes on a dolly with a real tie-down strap, which matters on the third-floor walk-ups near CSUN and the split-level driveways all over Chatsworth.
One Crew, Start To Finish
The same crew that loads the first box carries in the last one, with no relief shift showing up after lunch to pick up where somebody else left off.
What Northridge says after moving day
I had a really good experience working with these movers.
Would recommend this moving company to everyone 💯
Three steps. One crew, start to finish.
Tell Arjun The Basics
Send Arjun the two ZIP codes and a rough room count, and a written flat rate comes back the same day — no walkthrough needed just to talk numbers.
Your Crew And Date Get Locked In
Pick a date and a named crew goes on the truck board for you. Building management or an HOA wants a COI? Ours lands before move day.
Same Crew Loads, Drives, And Carries It In
Your crew loads the truck, drives it themselves, and carries everything through the new front door — the flat rate you were quoted in writing is the number on the final bill.
Ready to get on the truck board?
From the first phone call to the last box off the truck, the same local crew handles your move, and the flat rate you were quoted in writing is the rate you pay — nothing added once the truck is loaded. Send over the details of the move and a written number comes back the same day.
