These terms govern any moving services quoted or performed by Horizon Van Lines for a customer in Northridge or the surrounding San Fernando Valley. By booking a move with us, you agree to the terms below.

Estimates vs. Final Charges

Written flat rates provided by Arjun Nair or another team member during a phone or video walk-through are based on the information available at the time — items to be moved, access conditions, and requested services. Final charges may differ from the quoted rate if the scope of the move changes on move day, such as items not disclosed in advance, added stairs, delayed access, or extra packing requested on site. We’ll flag any change in scope before continuing work whenever possible.

Customer Responsibilities

Customers are responsible for disclosing hazardous, perishable, or high-value items in advance, providing reasonable access to both pickup and delivery locations, and being present, or naming an authorized representative, at both ends of the move. Items not disclosed during the estimate may affect scheduling, pricing, or claims eligibility.

Our Crew, Not a Subcontractor

Every move booked with Horizon Van Lines is staffed and driven by our own employed crew and our own trucks, from pickup through delivery. We do not subcontract any part of a move to an outside company, and no third party is ever brought in to complete work you booked with us.

Licensing and Insurance

Horizon Van Lines is a fully licensed and insured Northridge household-goods mover, holding a California PUC household-goods carrier permit (Cal-T) and interstate US DOT and MC authority, on file and available to any customer who asks. We carry up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage per shipment as a standard baseline.

Valuation Coverage and Claims

Every shipment is covered by released-value protection at $0.60 per pound per item at no additional charge, the industry-standard baseline. Customers who want fuller protection can purchase full-value protection, typically priced around 1-3% of the shipment’s declared value, which covers repair, replacement, or cash settlement for lost or damaged items at full value rather than by weight. Claims must be filed in writing within nine months of delivery, consistent with federal requirements for household-goods claims.

Cancellations and Rescheduling

We understand that a Santa Ana wind closure, a brush-fire smoke advisory, or a rare winter storm on the 101 can force a move date to change on short notice. Contact us as early as possible if you need to reschedule; your $85 deposit carries over to the new date and we don’t charge a fee for weather-related changes made in good time.

From the first phone call to the last box off the truck, the same local crew handles your move, and the flat rate you were quoted in writing is the rate you pay — nothing added once the truck is loaded. Send over the details of the move and a written number comes back the same day.
