Horizon Van Lines runs scheduled long-distance moves out of Northridge to eight regional destinations, and Trevor Sok, our long-distance driver, handles most of the long hauls in person. He’s driven for us starting in 2021 and knows the I-15, I-10, and I-5 corridors well enough to plan around desert heat, mountain grades, and holiday-weekend traffic before it turns into a delay nobody expected.

Routes We Run

  • Santa Barbara, CA — 95 miles via US-101, about 1.75 hours
  • Bakersfield, CA — 110 miles via CA-99/I-5, about 1.75 hours
  • Palm Springs, CA — 125 miles via I-10, about 2.25 hours
  • San Diego, CA — 140 miles via I-5, about 2.5 hours
  • Fresno, CA — 220 miles via CA-99, about 3.5 hours
  • Las Vegas, NV — 270 miles via I-15, about 4.25 hours
  • Phoenix, AZ — 375 miles via I-10, about 5.75 hours
  • Sacramento, CA — 385 miles via I-5, about 6 hours

Door to Door, No Depot Handoff

Every long-distance shipment starts with the same written flat rate a local move gets, built by route miles instead of a per-hour clock. The crew that loads your truck on Reseda Blvd is the crew that unloads it at the far end — nothing gets transferred to a second driver or handed off at a warehouse partway through the drive.

Why One Driver on the Long Runs Matters

Trevor drives the Vegas and Phoenix runs often enough to know the difference between an ordinary Friday on the 15 and a holiday weekend that backs up past Barstow before noon. That kind of judgment doesn’t come from a rotating pool of outside drivers — it comes from the same person doing the drive again and again, and being the one you can call and ask about a shipment already on the road.

Padded for the Distance

Longer routes mean more hours of highway vibration, so glassware, electronics, and anything with a hinge get wrapped a notch heavier than a quick move across town. Every shipment also carries up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage, with the paperwork ready if a building or leasing office on either end asks for it.

Why San Fernando Valley families call us first

What makes Horizon Van Lines different

One written flat rate before move day, and the same local crew from pickup to your new front door. That’s been true since 2013.

Crews Who Already Know The Valley

Every mover on our trucks has worked a CSUN move-in weekend or a Valley apartment turn before. Your crew already knows the gate codes up in Porter Ranch and which Reseda Blvd loading zones fill up first, before you finish giving the address.

Same-Week Slots For CSUN Move Weekend

Semester turnover doesn’t wait six weeks for a truck, so neither do we. Same-week slots stay open for CSUN move-in and move-out weekends at no rush premium, and Danny still takes those calls himself.

Licensed With The California PUC

We hold a California PUC household-goods carrier permit plus interstate US DOT and MC authority on file, with up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage per shipment. A property manager or an HOA board asking for proof gets a certificate the same day.

Marcus Plans Around The 405 Before You See A Truck

405/101 interchange backups, dorm-zone loading windows, gate codes for the gated communities up in Porter Ranch — Marcus builds the day’s truck board around all of it before a crew ever leaves the yard, so your window holds.

You Get Arjun, Not A Script

Call the office and Arjun, or someone off the crew, picks up — not a call center reading from a screen three states away. Whoever answers can already see your date and your crew on the board.

How your things actually get handled

What we do to your things before the truck even moves

Every Piece Gets A Once-Over First

Julian’s crew walks each room with you before a single blanket goes on, noting any scratch or dent a dresser already had. That way nobody’s arguing later about what the truck actually showed up to find.

Both Doorways Get Protected First

Floor runners and corner guards go down at pickup and again at delivery before anything gets lifted, so neither your old hallway nor the new one ends up with a scuffed wall or a dinged door frame.

Disassembled, Bagged, And Tracked

Bed frames, dining tables, cribs — anything that needs to come apart for the ride gets taken down, and Dana’s crew bags the hardware and tapes it straight to the piece so nothing goes missing between doors.

Fragile Items Get Their Own Carton, Not A Gap To Wedge Into

TVs, mirrors, and artwork travel in a dedicated carton with real corner padding, packed by the same mover who carried it out of the room in the first place.

Heavy Pieces Ride A Dolly, Never Get Wrestled

Anything heavy goes on a dolly with a real tie-down strap, which matters on the third-floor walk-ups near CSUN and the split-level driveways all over Chatsworth.

One Crew, Start To Finish

The same crew that loads the first box carries in the last one, with no relief shift showing up after lunch to pick up where somebody else left off.

Move day, broken into three steps

Three steps. One crew, start to finish.

01

Tell Arjun The Basics

Send Arjun the two ZIP codes and a rough room count, and a written flat rate comes back the same day — no walkthrough needed just to talk numbers.

02

Your Crew And Date Get Locked In

Pick a date and a named crew goes on the truck board for you. Building management or an HOA wants a COI? Ours lands before move day.

03

Same Crew Loads, Drives, And Carries It In

Your crew loads the truck, drives it themselves, and carries everything through the new front door — the flat rate you were quoted in writing is the number on the final bill.

Ready to get on the truck board?

From the first phone call to the last box off the truck, the same local crew handles your move, and the flat rate you were quoted in writing is the rate you pay — nothing added once the truck is loaded. Send over the details of the move and a written number comes back the same day.
